Want to Heal Faster? Why Intensive Therapy Might Be Right for You
Sometimes weekly therapy just isn't enough.
You spend 50 minutes getting into something real and then time is up. You drive home, slip back into your regular life, and by next week you're almost starting from scratch. For some women that rhythm works. For others, it keeps healing just out of reach.
Intensive therapy is a different structure. Instead of spreading sessions across months, you block out dedicated time, usually multiple hours over one or a few consecutive days, and you do the work without the constant stop and start.
Why the Intensive Format Works
When you are processing something difficult, your nervous system needs time and continuity to move through it. Weekly sessions can feel like repeatedly opening a wound and covering it back up before it has had a chance to heal.
An intensive gives your system the space to actually move. You drop into the work, stay with it, and come out the other side of something, rather than circling it for months.
For women who are overwhelmed, overthinking, and overextending in every area of their lives, waiting weeks between sessions can feel unbearable. The intensive model was designed for exactly this.
Who Are Intensives For?
Intensive therapy in Calgary is a good fit if:
• You have been in weekly therapy but feel stuck and want to go deeper
• You are carrying a traumatic event, a pattern , anxiety that won't shift and you want to address it with focused time
• Your schedule doesn't easily allow for weekly appointments, but you could block out one or two days
• You want to make significant progress in a shorter timeframe
• You are a overwhelmed, overthinking, overachieving woman and you know something needs to change
Many of my clients have spent years managing their pain rather than healing it. The intensive format finally gives them the time and space to finally go deeper.
What Happens in an Intensive?
Intensives at Resilience Counselling and Consulting are tailored to you. We begin with a thorough conversation so I understand what you are carrying and what you want to work toward. From there, we use the approaches that will be most effective for your specific situation.
I offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) intensives — an evidence-based approach that works at the root of trauma and anxiety, where real and lasting change happens. EMDR is particularly well suited to intensive work because it can create meaningful shifts in a concentrated period of time. You don't need months of weekly sessions to begin feeling better.
How Long Is an Intensive?
Intensives are typically half-day or full-day sessions, sometimes across two consecutive days depending on what we are working on. We discuss the structure during your initial consultation and build a plan that fits your situation and goals.
Is This Available Online?
Yes. Intensive therapy is available both in-person in Calgary and online for women across Alberta. Some clients actually find it easier to go deep in their own space.
Some Approaches Help You Cope. This Helps You Heal.
So much of what you are facing today is rooted in what you have experienced in the past. The anxiety, the self-doubt, the patterns that won't shift, so often these are the result of pain that was never fully processed.
If you have been doing the weekly therapy thing and feel like you are ready to go deeper — or if you simply want to address something significant without it taking years — an intensive might be exactly what you need.
